To harmonize the colors in these pieces, I used a technique I learned from Nicholas Wilton. He said to mix a little bit of one of the colors you are using into each of the other colors, so they will automatically harmonize. I could not make out the underlying stamp shapes on what was the green-ish painting, or I would have painted them black. The Jenkins Green glaze was so dark the contrast disappeared. So I painted the entire background, and then did the same thing with the purple-ish painting. Strangely pleasing. Here is how they used to look:
