"Playtime"

"Playtime"

This is a painting I disliked, which I then covered with yellowisth-white paint, then sanded down to reveal some of the underlying colors and shapes. Today I put some light green paint on it and let it drip, then attached some collage shapes in. I like it!

Playing with my new Stencils

Today I used the gel plate and my two new stencils from joggles.com, designed by Elizabeth St. Hilaire. I will use these papers to collage into my paintings, but how and when I don't know.

Today's Layer - Sixth? or Seventh?

More contrast makes this piece explode with energy. The last part will be adding small items in the component colors.

Still in Process

In this painting I collaged in the color study, cut into pieces. Another layer is now drying.

Direction Found ...

I did the smaller images first, and then made the larger pieces looking at them. A couple of days ago I decided to try collaging the smaller paintings into the larger ones. I did that with a couple of paintings, although the smaller works were not always the inspirations. I like this, and there may be more additions later.

Color Study for Hieroglyphics II

As in "Hieroglyphics I", I will probably add another layer, and some small shapes in the basic colors. I just love how the colors work together in this piece right now. I may have to do another one in a similar way just to be able to put a layer over it! Yumm!

Process: After choosing a color palette, I laid down the magenta layer, and painted yellow shapes onto it. Then I went over that with the green layer, creating other shapes that overlapped with the first ones, and finally put on the yellow-orange layer doing the same thing. This process ensures that I have a balance between control and randomness. I have an idea of how it will look but I don't really know until I do it.
